Built in the late 12th to early 13th century during the reign of Jayavarman VII, Banteay Kdei is a sprawling Buddhist monastic complex whose name means "A Citadel of Chambers". Unlike the root-entwined Ta Prohm, Banteay Kdei's beauty lies in its quiet decay — weathered sandstone walls with intricate carvings worn smooth by 800 years of monsoon and time.
